Going completely natural with your face care products is great for your skin but sometimes not so great for your bank account! At Jan de Vries we believe natural skincare should be fun and affordable! Budgeting can be difficult at best, which is why I’ve come up with our top 10 favourite face care products that don’t compromise on quality – or the price!
Moisturisers should be a major part of any skincare routine, they provide hydration and help prevent damage by free radicals. Our favourite moisturiser for under £10 is Sukin’s Facial Moisturiser. Made from aloe vera, jojoba, and avocado oil, this 100% natural moisturiser is suitable for all skin types. Costing £8.12, and containing no nasty chemicals or parabens we think this is the perfect natural budget moisturiser.
Sukin Facial Moisturiser £8.12
Sensitive skin moisturiser
For those of you with sensitive skin why not try Sukin’s Sensitive Facial Moisturizer? Containing Shea butter and aloe vera this moisturiser gently hydrates without irritating sensitive skin. In fact, this moisturiser is so great that it won an award in the Freefrom Skincare Awards in 2013! What’s more this efficient moisturiser doesn’t break the bank! Costing £7.95 it’s definitely a winner in our book!
Toners are used to cleanse skin and remove oil and traces of dirt. A good toner should help to unclog and shrink pores as well as adding another protective layer for the skin. You may be thinking it would be tricky to try and find a toner that does all of this, is natural, and cost effective. Don’t worry – we’ve found the perfect toner that fits the bill – Avalon Organics Intense Defence Vitamin C Renewal Balancing Toner. This toner contains the perfect combination of aloe vera, cucumber and papaya to purify, hydrate and rebalance skin tone and moisture levels, while plant-derived vitamin C helps to target free radical damage and the signs of aging.
Face washes should be used twice daily (once in the morning and once at night) and is probably the most used out of all of our face products, which is why it’s so important to find one that is free from chemicals and doesn’t damage your skin. When it comes to face washes look no further than Pacifica’s Sea Foam Complete Natural Face Wash! This friendly face wash is gentle on sensitive skin whilst still removing impurities and costing £9.99 it is still in range for those of us on a budget.
For those of you who prefer cleansers over face washes I have just the product for you! Natura Siberica’s Cleansing Foaming Mousse is not only affordable (at £5.75) but also effective! It gently cleanses skin whilst also infusing it with a variety of nourishing ingredients such as chamomile and Siberian pine oil – great for strengthening delicate skin!
Using a facial exfoliator can help to prevent dead skin cells from clogging up the pores in your face, prevent wrinkles, and help keep your skin smooth. Many regular face scrubs contain microbeads which are not only harmful for the environment (because they get washed down the drain and make their way to the sea) they can also create tiny microscopic tears in the skin, leaving it open to infections and spots. Sukin Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Scrub is a great natural alternative. Packed full of super greens such as kale, spirulina, chlorella and parsley this scrub helps to remove dry skin cells whilst also providing skin with essential nutrients like essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Natural and affordable, Sukin are definitely one of our favourite brands here at Jan de Vries!
Whether it’s summer or winter chapped lips can strike at any time, which is why we should always be prepared with a reliable lip balm! When it comes to natural, affordable lip balms we’d recommend Dr Bronner’s Lemon and Lime Organic Lip Balm which costs £2.99. This zesty smelling lip balm is naturally rich in essential fatty acids due to the complimentary blend of organic beeswax and avocado. Rich in antioxidants, it’s great for preventing damage by free radicals. This is arguably one of the most versatile lip balms out there many of our customers have used this friendly lip balm to soothe chaffed skin on their hands.
When it comes to makeup removers, finding a product that is effective, affordable, free from chemicals and gentle on the skin seems like an impossible task, thankfully though, Natura Siberica’s Moisturizing Foam Eye Makeup Remover ticks all the boxes! Enriched with a variety of natural ingredients that help to refresh and rejuvenate skin this makeup remover is ideal for delicate skin. Nourishing and costing an affordable £5.75 this is definitely one of our favourite products!
Travel-friendly makeup remover
For those of you who prefer makeup wipes, or need a travel-friendly alternative try Pacifica’s Coconut Water Natural Cleansing Wipes. Containing aloe vera, papaya and infused with coconut water these wipes gently cleanse, refresh and wipe away makeup and excess dirt. Great for dry and sensitive skin, convenient, and costing only £4.99, these wipes are portable and a perfect addition to anyone’s skincare routine.
We all love a bit of pampering now and then, but often face masks can be an expensive luxury we simply can’t afford. However, when it comes to natural affordable skincare, Sukin is definitely the brand to turn to! Offering a cost-friendly way to treat ourselves Sukin’s Super Greens Detoxifying Facial Masque is definitely one of our favourites! Containing kale, goji berry and bentonite that help detoxify the skin with avocado, baobab and rosehip oil to hydrate this is the perfect mask to help replenish skin and maintain a healthy, youthful glow. This costs just over £10, but I just couldn't leave it out, it's one of my favourite face masks and (of course) free from any harmful chemicals.
