Coenzyme Q10
Just like a car can’t function without a spark plug, the human body can’t function without coenzyme Q10. We need this powerful antioxidant to support mitochondrial function and generate energy. Not only is CoQ10 a natural substance that is essential to cellular energy production and is involved in maintaining normal heart function, but it is also an antioxidant that scavenges free radicals throughout the body.
Life-sustaining force is produced within tiny cellular power generators, the amazing mitochondria. These little engines rely on coenzyme Q10 or CoQ10 to create energy. Also known as ubiquinone, this vitamin-like molecule is found in nearly every cell.
In addition to its pivotal role in energy production, CoQ10 works double duty as a free radical fighting antioxidant, protecting our cells and even DNA from oxidative damage. CoQ10 comes from your body’s own internal production and diet. However, you can only find abundant CoQ10 in uncommon foods, such as organ meats, with much smaller amounts in everyday fare like beef, pork, and fish.
The aging process, and some common medications, slowly rob us of the ability to make our own CoQ10. By virtue of its actions on cellular energy production, CoQ10 affects the function of every cell in the body.
Organs with the highest energy requirements, such as the ever-beating heart, rely on optimal levels of CoQ10 for cellular vigour. Natural Factors Coenzyme Q10 is derived from a natural fermentation process, providing only the preferred trans isomer, identical to the body’s own CoQ10. This potent antioxidant defends against free radicals throughout the body.
